Sassetti is currently seeking a Accounting Manager (Nonprofit Specialist) to join our tax team.
Accounting Manager (Nonprofit Specialist) Responsibilities:
• Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial operations for a portfolio of nonprofit clients, including financial reporting, budgeting, grants management, and compliance.
• Act as an outsourced Controller for multiple nonprofit organizations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
• Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards (FASB ASC 958).
• Maintain internal controls and financial reporting systems for nonprofit client engagements.
• Oversee grant and fund accounting processes, including restricted and unrestricted funds tracking and compliance.
• Collaborate with clients’ executive leadership teams and boards, presenting financial statements and financial analysis as needed.
• Prepare annual budgets and forecasts in partnership with client leadership.
• Ensure compliance with federal and state nonprofit regulations, including IRS Form 990 preparation support and audit readiness.
• Research complex accounting and compliance issues and provide practical, strategic solutions for nonprofit clients.
• Participate in firm’s practice development efforts through networking, nonprofit community involvement, and referral relationships.
• Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
Accounting Manager (Nonprofit Specialist) Qualifications:
• Five or more years of nonprofit accounting and financial management experience, ideally in a controller or senior accounting role.
• Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting required.
• Extensive knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards, grant management, and financial reporting regulations.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and FASB ASC 958 reporting requirements for nonprofit organizations.
• Experience preparing financial statements, budgets, and grant compliance reports.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks Desktop and Online; experience with other nonprofit financial software a plus.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple clients and projects simultaneously.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word.
• Leadership and mentoring experience, with a collaborative management style.
